Simone Boscolo : « I want to win the competition »
Simone Boscolo, new Villefranche player, talks about his choice to join the Wolves and his ambitions for the next season.
Simone, can you introduce yourself?
Hi, I am Simone Boscolo, I am Italian, and I am 30 years old. At the moment, I am a university student in Computer Engineering, so I am playing and studying at the same time. I have started to play rugby league in 2012, before I was playing union, and I have decided to put a full commitment on rugby league in 2017 when I moved to Australia for 2 years to improve my game. Then I come back for the world cup qualifications in 2019 and I started to played in France. I have also been part of the 2022 rugby league world cup squad.
What do you think to season with salon to individual and collective?
In Salon there are very good and friendly people, in fact I still have contacts over there and they are a very compact team, inside and outside the field. As a team is a very young team, there are a lot of young good players that play a good rugby league, in fact most of them play one season for Salon and then they left for Elite 1 teams. As a person, I hope I have delivered some experience that I have gained in Australia and during my internationals campaigns.
Why you sign to Villefranche and what memories you keep to Salon?
I have signed with Villefranche because I am looking for new stimulus and challenges. About my memories, I will keep in my heart a bit of every single person that I have met there, from the coach, Eddy, every single player that I have played with and all the other people they were helping and supporting us. Thanks again Salon. A special thanks goes to the president, Thierry Serre, because he helped me a lot to allow me to play and keep working on my studies.
What do you think you bring to your team?
For sure, I will try my best to show my dedication to the game and my will to improve and learn new things every day. Maybe a bit of Italian cuisine as well.
What are your ambitions for next season ?
As a player, I will put my best effort in every single match, because I think all my new teammates will do the same and that’s what they expect from me. As a team, I want to win the competition.
