Alex Grant : « Elite 1 is very different to the Queensland Cup »
After his team great win against Villeneuve RL, we met Alex Grant, Albi Halfback who talks to us about his great performance and his life in France.
Alex, can you introduce yourself in a few words ?
I’m Alex Grant from the Gold Coast Australia born in Ballina, New South Wales. My occupation I’m a qualified carpenter.
What’s your analyse of the great win against Villeneuve ?
slow start to the game with errors and penalties but once we focused on completing sets and sticking to the game plan we played well which resulted in a good win.
Albi alternates good and bad performances, how do you explain it ?
I think it comes down to experience we have a very young squad and when we are under pressure at times we lack patience with the ball instead of sticking to the game plan, each game the young boys are learning good lessons and are improving every game so it’s good.
Do you like your new life in France? and what do you think about french rugby league ?
Loving my time here in France Albi is a wonderful town with great people and the Tigers is a great club with great people invovled.
The elite 1 competition is a good tough standard played very different to the Queensland Cup so took a few games to get used to and see where I had to change the way I played.
What are the goals for this end of the season ?
Defiantly to make the Grand Final I think if we improve every week and play consistent football we will give ourself a good chance to make it.
Do you want to keep playing with Albi next season ?
Yeah would love to come back and play another season in France so if we the right deal came up and once I get back to Australia and talk with my partner and family.
