Tony Pellow : « Catalans were a very physical team and it was good to see our boys stand up ! »
We met Tony Pellow, rookie from Carcassonne XIII who looks back on his hat-trick during the victory against Saint-Estève XIII Catalan and talks about his choice to come and play in France.
Tony, first game in France, a win againt french champion and 3 tries, could it be better for you ?
It was defiantly an experience my first game over here, I couldn’t have done what I done without the whole team performance yesterday. The tries are just a bonus on the back of the hard work from the team and our middle going forward. But saying that it was definitely an ideal start to the competition personally and I’m really looking forward to the season ahead with Carcassonne.
What do you think of your team performance yersterday ?
On a team performance I thought we were very clinical in parts of the game, especially the back end of the game the last 25-30 minutes. There are always areas a team can work on and I think if we can work on cutting out giving penalties and control the ball a lot more we will be just fine. But I thought our whole team really dug deep yesterday. Our forwards were very good, which gave us backs plenty of room. Catalans were a very physical team and it was good to see our boys stand up !
Why did you choose to come play rugby league in France ?
France was an option last year but unfortunately it didn’t go through, so the opportunity came up again this year and I just wanted to test myself in a different competition and see the other side of the world.
