Max Bailey : « Je viens en France pour découvrir une nouvelle façon de jouer au rugby à XIII »
Max Bailey, nouvelle recrue de Lézignan, évoque son arrivée en France et ses ambitions avec les Meuniers en Super XIII.
Max, peux-tu te présenter ?
Je m’appelle Max Bailey, j’ai 28 ans et je viens de Wollongong, en Australie.
Comment le contact s’est-il fait avec Lézignan ?
J’ai pris contact avec Lézignan grâce à Stuart Mason, qui y a joué pendant deux ans. Je connais Stuart grâce à notre passage commun aux St George Illawarra Dragons. C’est lui qui m’a mis en relation avec Meky Benhalima, avec qui j’ai finalisé le contrat.
Que penses-tu du niveau du Super XIII ?
J’ai entendu dire que le Super XIII est une compétition de très haut niveau. J’ai quelques amis qui y ont joué ces dernières années et j’ai hâte de voir à quoi ressemble ce championnat.
Pourquoi venir jouer au rugby en France ?
Je viens en France pour découvrir une nouvelle façon de jouer au rugby à XIII. J’ai joué semi-professionnellement en Australie pendant huit ans et je veux vivre cette expérience dans un nouveau pays et une nouvelle culture.
Quelles sont tes ambitions avec Lézignan ?
Mes ambitions avec Lézignan sont de remporter le championnat. Je pense que nous avons bien recruté et j’ai hâte de commencer à jouer.
Max, can you introduce yourself?
My name is Max Bailey, I’m 28 years old and I’m from Wollongong, Australia.
How did the contact with Lezignan happen?
I first got in touch with Lezignan through Stuart Mason, who played there for two years. I’m friends with Stuart from our time together at the St George Illawarra Dragons. Through Stuart, I was introduced to Meky Benhalima, with whom I worked out the contract.
What do you think about the level in Super XIII?
I’ve heard that Super XIII is a really high-quality competition. I have a few mates who have played there in previous years, and I can’t wait to see what the competition is like.
Why did you come to France to play rugby?
I’m coming to France to experience a new brand of rugby league. I’ve played semi-professionally in Australia for eight years and I want to discover rugby league in a new country and culture.
What are your ambitions with Lezignan?
My ambitions with Lezignan are to win a championship. I believe we have recruited well, and I can’t wait to start playing.
