Mark Kheirallah : « It was a good return game »
Mark Kheirallah, fullback for Featherstone Rovers, talks about his return to competition after his long injury.
Mark, can you introduce yourself?
My name is Mark Kheirallah, im 33 years old and I play fullback for Featherstone Rovers.
You came back from an injury, how was your rehabilitation?
I had surgery on my ACL back in August. In the beginning, rehab was very slow and boring but once I was able to start lifting weights I was able to set new goals each week to keep rehab more enjoyable. I started back training with the team around 7-8 months and I played my first game after 10.5 months after surgery.
A big victory 50 to 6 for your return, what do you think of your individual performance and the collective performance?
I was pretty happy with my performance in general, there was a couple of errors that I can work on for next week but being out of the game for 11 months, I would say it was a good return game. As a team I thought we created a lot of opportunities and did exactly what we practised during the week
Who do you think are the favorites to go up to the Super League with you?
It’s tricky to say exactly who our biggest competitors for promotion are at the moment. Every team has been having some injuries and makes it less consistent with back to back games Toulouse or Sheffield
As someone who has spent several seasons in France, what are the differences between England and France in terms of rugby and off the field?
Biggest difference is the weather (laughs). One thing I have noticed is where I live (Featherstone area) it’s heavily rugby league dominated so everyone knows who you are and talks to you about games. I like that a lot. On the rugby side of things there isn’t too much difference probably just a broader amount of younger players coming through because there’s more super league teams in England.
