Connor O’Beirne : « I’m off to Lezignan for a new challenge »
Connor O’Beirne, new Meuniers halfback, looks back on his season with Carcassonne and his signing at Lezignan.
Connor, can you introduce yourself?
My name is Connor O’Beirne I’m 26 years old from the central coast in Australia.
What is your assessment of your season with Carcassonne 13 individually and collectively?
As far as our season we won the cup which was a big achievement and fell short in the final of elite 1 I think most of Carcassonne would be a little disappointed with how the grand final went as Carcasonne is accustomed to success. As an individual I think I got better as the season went along as it was a bit of a culture shock learning the new style of play and everything being in a different language.
Why leave Carcassonne for Lezignan?
I’m off to Lezignan for a new challenge and a chance to work under Allan Walsh who was really good for me as the assistant coach at Carcassonne last year.
What do you remember from your first season in elite 1?
My first season was amazing , I was very impressed with the level of the top teams and how professional the competition is.
What are your ambitions in your new club?
Ambitions at my new club are to be a top 4 side and make it deep into the finals and win a trophy.
