Chase Bernard : « The boys that took the field did an awesome job »
Chase Bernard, prop for Albi RL, talks about the victory against Carcassonne and the game at Toulouse.
After the loss versus Saint-Gaudens, what did the coaches tell you this week?
The loss against St Gaudens was a big wake up call for us. The coaches spoke about completion this week against Carcassonne. We know they’re a very good team and if we could complete at a high level then we would be able to build momentum and put pressure on them.
A big first half and a more difficult second half, what do you think of the team’s performance?
I think the boys that took the field did an awesome job. It was tough out there, at one stage having twelve men. I left the game early so other middles had to play longer minutes, which they handled well.
We still have plenty of room for improvement but we showed good signs of what we’re capable of both on attack and defense.
How is your injury?
I left the game because of sickness, I thought I’d be able to get through the game but I felt worse as the game went on. I’m back home on the mend and will be ready for next week.
Next weekend, you play in Toulouse how can you win against this young team? (match postponed after interview)
For us, we need to stay humble, and not overlook them. They will be confident after winning their first 2 matches so we will need high completion rate and build momentum and take every opportunity that comes as well as being disciplined.
